Last week, all of our secondary students participated in College Week. On Friday, our 8th through 12th grade students had the opportunity to visit nearby Utah universities.
The APA D3 Drama Team competed at the Utah Shakespeare Festival this weekend for the first time under the direction of Ms. Sanders and Mrs. McGirr. Our students gave excellent performances in two monologues, two duo/trio scenes, and an ensemble scene. Although we are still waiting for adjudication results, we are very proud of our students’ hard work and grateful to be part of this Utah tradition!
The 2017 Fall Festival will be a combined D1, D2, and D3 event! The Festival is scheduled for Friday, Sept 8th, from 6-9 pm, at the D2 campus. This year’s activities will include jumping castles and slides, laser tag and archery tag, pony rides, face painting, and carnival games. A wristband will cost $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Dinner will also be available to purchase for just $5. Proceeds will go to funding FSO sponsored activities, band, SBO, and drama. Tickets are now available ONLINE! Yep! It is super easy to get your tickets… go to apaevents.blogspot.com. Tickets will also be on sale Tues-Fri (Sept 5-8), before and after school, at D2. We still need helping hands for set up, games, parking, and clean up. Get a jump on your volunteer hours and sign up! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090a45abac23a1ff2-fall

We’re ready to announce our start and finish times for Draper 2 and 3 for the 2017/2018 school year. We want to thank all of you for participating in our recent surveys regarding start times and carpool! As you know, there are many variables we considered when establishing the start and end times. Parent preferences and convenience was fully considered and we appreciate all the input we received! We also needed to take into account the after-school activities schedule for our 2A High School, including athletic events, and our carpool drop-off and pickup loads.
Draper 2: Grades K-6
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday – 8:15 am-3:25/3:50* pm
Wednesday and Thursday – 8:15 am-2:25/2:50*pm
*At D2 we divide the after-school pickup into 2 dismissals. First dismissal and second dismissal.
Draper 3: Grades 7-12
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday – 8:00 am-3:15/3:40/4:15 pm
Wednesday and Thursday – 8:00 am-2:15/2:40/3:15 pm
Drop off for each school starts 30 minutes prior to the start time.
As returning families will recognize, the D3 schedule is the same as this year’s schedule, with D2’s schedule adjusting by just 15 minutes. We know from our parent feedback that this schedule is not ideal for all families. We do feel that it successfully achieves a balance between all the different considerations involved in scheduling the school day start and finish times.
You may be interested to know the results of our parent survey. A majority of our elementary parents chose the 8:15 a.m. start time, though it was nearly evenly split between those parents and parents who prefer 8:00 a.m. A large majority of our secondary parents (nearly double any other choice) chose the 8:00 a.m. start time. We are grateful we are able to provide start times that our parents prefer by majority.
We are also excited to announce that we will be launching our new Draper 2 & 3 pilot bus program this fall! More details to come in the middle of July.
